Corona Barometer
How can research data be made quickly accessible and understandable during a global crisis? With the Corona Barometer, we explored rapid ways to communicate pandemic-related data with the aim to inform the public and support the scientific community in real time.

Background

When the Coronavirus pandemic started, we looked into ways we could help. At that time scientists were gathering huge amounts of new data about the development of the pandemic. With the Corona Barometer project, we aimed at disclosing all this data by opening it up through a portal. This experiment was featured in major news outlets.

What did we learn?

We learned that it is possible to create a portal within a short amount of time. Using a simple widget, we could provide huge amounts of different data in an easy-to-read way. A widget solution allowed us to expand the barometer over time in an easy way to add more functionalities to it.

Ambitions

Disclosing research data in a quick manner to aid response to the outbreak and better inform the public.
