Understanding environments through atmospheric sensors
i
How can wearable devices with atmospheric sensors empower users to make informed environmental decisions through data visualization?

Background

We developed a wrist watch, which uses atmospheric sensors to provide people with useful, contextual information in a simple, understandable way. The aim was to empower people; providing a means by which they can receive information relating to the environment around them, allowing them to make informed choices in their daily lives.

What did we learn?

During this experiment we were able to test the possibilities of communicating through data on ‘wearables’. The project helped us understand how to use data visualization to derive a message from data through the context.

Ambitions

The data we collected presents new opportunities to help us understand the urban environment as a whole. This experiment fosters engagement with the increasing demands of the ‘Internet of Things’: infinite resolutions, form factors and surfaces. The main ambition is to create better Human Computer Interfaces in products so that the user can leverage the power of data.
