Visualizing the usage of The Things Network
i
The Things Network generates vast technical data that's often hard to access or understand. This project explores how interactive storytelling can make that data more engaging and meaningful.

Background

The Things Network is a community driven open platform that offers a new protocol to build Internet of Things applications. In this project, we aimed to make the data collected by The Things Network more transparent through interactive storytelling.

What did we learn?

The data was available in such a dry form; hundreds of excel sheets which were very difficult to go through. The challenge was to open it up and make this highly technical data set come alive.

Ambitions

Many global networks that work with infrastructural data do not have the intention to make their data sets transparent through design or storytelling. This experiment opens up the possibility to make use of these creative techniques for organizations that are heavily focused on technical details of their data.
