Our colored view of the world
Exploring how we experience color and media
Visualising cybersecurity data on a global scale can be a daunting task: huge amounts of digital traffic are being monitored and protected in real time, resulting in large volumes of data points. These datapoints are not static but dynamic, as they are continuously subjected to security efforts. Our challenge was to create visualisations that communicate the intensity and expanse of such cybersecurity capabilities.
Because of the large volume and dynamic quality of the data we realised a static screen design approach to the visualisations was not going to work. Instead we used code as a creative tool to explore ideas and check their viability. Sketching with code allowed us to quickly bring visualisation concepts to life and play with them, exploring ideas and finding opportunities. This lead to quick, experiential iterations that would be impossible or inefficient to produce with a traditional design approach.
Through this experiment we uncover the possibilities and opportunities code offers in our creative process, which allows us to come up with more interesting dynamic concepts while closing the gap between design and development.
