International Celiac Disease Symposium 2009
| Briefing The Celiac Disease Consortium asked us to develop the new campaign for the International Celiac Disease Symposium 2009 in Amsterdam. Besides the promotion of a distinctive style and different communication tools the design must also reach the following primary goals:
|
About the ICDS The International Celiac Disease Symposium is a biennial international symposium in celiac disease (gluten disease). Since 1972, the ICDS has been organised in changing location in the world for and through scientists and doctors. Besides the scientific symposium there is a clinical forum for patients, celiac organisations, and healthcare professionals. |
Concept development
|
The full identity and campaign visuals are designed based on our interpretation of celiac disease. Celiac disease is a chronic disorder where the patient is allergic to certain proteins called gluten. These proteins are mainly found in cereals such as wheat, barley and rye. Celiac patients can not tolerate this gluten in their diet. Eating foods containing gluten has serious consequences for their small intestine. The greater the surface of the intestine, the more food the body can absorb. |
The area is also increased by villi which resemble fingers. Celiac disease may lead to the degradation of the villi in the small intestine, resulting in nutrients from food not being well absorbed by the body. Our visualisation refers to the villi. In addition, the visualisation can also be interpreted as a cornfield influenced by the wind. |
Developed design
|
The design is among others developed into a: logo, stationary, envelopes, website, invitations, symposium abstract books, lettering, signage, and several conference items. |
